Halldor K. Bjarnason, BA (Hons), LL.B.

Halldor obtained an honours degree in Political Science from the University of Winnipeg, and a Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1991 and the Bar of British Columbia in 1993.

One of Halldor's skills is his ability to understand the distinct needs of clients who have disabilities. The combination of being born with cerebral palsy and his work in a variety of professional and volunteer roles as an advocate for people with disabilities provides him with a truly unique perspective. In addition, Halldor has broad legal experience which includes labour, civil litigation, and trust and estate issues. This enables him to find creative solutions to many of his clients' concerns.

While he loves law, he also has a "life" outside of the law office. He was a member of the Canadian National Disabled Cycling Team; and competed in the 1992 Barcelona Paralympics. He also competed in the 1988 Seoul Paralympics, where he set a world record and won gold and silver medals for Canada. He also enjoys hiking, canoeing, scuba diving, and skiing.

Halldor sits on several boards, including the Neil Squire Foundation, First Baptist Foundation, the Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network , and the Coast Mental Health Foundation – Trust Advisory Board. He lectures regularly at the University of British Columbia, Langara College, and the West Coast School of Massage. He also provides bi-weekly estate planning seminars at the Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network..

Halldor's experience also includes:

  • Chair of the Law Society of BC's Disability Advisory Committee
